“Revive” is an attempt to create my own ecosystem to revive uninhibited parts of my imagination. It is loosely inspired by nature, but directly utilizes man made materials such as zipties, steel, foam, rubber and flocking.
“Revive” is an act of rebellion against myself. I thought of myself as a figure sculptor, and the results of labeling myself were dull and uninspring. I began playing with clay by sculpting intuitiviely, and each sculpture became less refined and more wild. I followed the process with bold glazes and unusual materials such as liquid rubber and electrical tape. Nothing was off limits, everything was welcome. The result was a revival or my imagianation and a celebration of materals.
